Our first Junior SRO of the Day is fifth grader Marlee. Marlee wrote a wonderful essay and demonstrates the characteristics represented in our Tiger Character Attributes and GPD character qualities. Marlee did a great job serving and hopefully has a lasting memory of her day as Junior SRO!

This recognition is awarded to students who stand out as leaders within our school community. Nominees are selected for this honor by their teachers, who look for students showing great character and contributions to the classroom. Once nominated, the fifth-grade candidates write a paragraph explaining what it means to be selected as Junior SRO of the Day. A committee then reviews submissions and selects our Junior SRO.

SRO Larry Gilbert came up with the idea and developed the criteria for students to be nominated, which reflect both our Tiger Character traits and the qualities embodied by law enforcement officers. We are grateful to partner with the Greeneville Police Department to promote character, respect, and service to our community.

Tusculum View Tiger Artists have participated in the Cupid Project, a non-profit organization that was founded in New York City in 2018 and has spread across the country to deliver kindness to our elderly populations. The Cupid Project aims to combat loneliness, bring communities together, and inspire others to engage in philanthropy. Tiger artists worked together and made over 300 cards that will be delivered to our area nursing homes and assisted living homes in Greeneville and Greene County. The students had a fun time coming up with puns and plays on words to bring a smile to others and share kindness.

Our next group of 5th grade Tiger Troopers! Tiger Troop is our 5th Grade leadership program. These Tigers help during morning bus duty. They greet and help our younger students, clean up, help younger students open eating utensils, hold the door, and more! They also participate in a variety of leadership opportunities in our school.

We want to give a shout out to these "Tiger Book Display" creators! Students can fill out an application, and if their idea is selected, they plan and design their library book display. The design team leads the entire project: creating signs, adding decorations, selecting books, thinking of ideas to engage readers, and more. Thanks to these Tigers for helping promote reading in our school!

Kaden's Closet will serve GCS students to honor Kaden Gunter:

We are proud of our former Tigers, Kaden's friends, for creating this closet to honor Kaden and his love for sports. He embodied love for others and was always willing to give to those around him. This ministry will continue that love and impact students across Greeneville! Please consider donating new and gently used sports equipment for students in need across our district.

Kaden was a Tusculum View Tiger and loved our school, Greeneville Middle, his peers, and being a Tiger and Greene Devil! Thank you to the Kaden's Closet team and all who give and help with this ministry!
